What is Sweeps? How does it work?
Sweeps is the best way to hire college students. Customers post jobs–hourly work, internships, and full-time positions–online or over the phone, and we broadcast these jobs by email and text message to Sweepers. Sweepers respond if they are available and interested, and the customer is matched with the best student for the job. Once the work is done, Sweeps makes payment fast, safe, and easy, collecting payment after ensuring that the customer is satisfied.
How are Sweepers awarded jobs?
After a job is broadcast via text message and email, any Sweeper who want the job replies back. Generally, the highest ranked Sweeper (see Sweeper ranking information) who is available/interested is awarded the job, but other factors such as specific experience, skills, or even personality traits may come into play. We use all the information we have at our disposal, which includes our proprietary ranking algorithm as well as human intuition and good sense, to match the customer with the best Sweeper for the job.
What/who are Sweepers?
Sweepers are bright, motivated college students and recent graduates. They are the future leaders of our communities and work with Sweeps in their spare time. All Sweepers fill out a detailed application, impress us during an interview, and are verified college students; we guarantee that they will meet or exceed your expectations.
What does Sweeps do?
Just about anything. Sweepers have many skill sets, from social media and sales to gardening. There is a good chance one of our 250+ Sweepers will have relevant experience and want to work. For example, we recently placed Sweeper Lauren B. for a gift wrapping job over the holidays–in her text reply, she explained that her mother owned a wrapping business! If we cannot find an interested Sweeper within our existing network, we will recruit on campus to find the right student. We end up filling over 90% of jobs posted.
Where does Sweeps work?
Most Sweepers live in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, but there are Sweepers active throughout the Triangle area. Although Sweeps is based in the Triangle, we have been able to serve customers far and wide as many Sweepers choose to remain in the system as they travel to and settle in other areas.
What are your prices?
See pricing page.
May I tip Sweepers?
Yes, Sweepers love tips! Please do so in cash at the time of service or at our checkout page.
What if I need equipment or supplies to accomplish my job?
Sweepers are able to provide some equipment, just indicate what you need and what you are willing to compensate the Sweeper for providing it in the post a job form. It is often easiest and least expensive to provide your own equipment, and your job will have a greater chance of getting awarded quickly.
How do I pay Sweeps?
Sweeps collects payment the Tuesday following a job’s completion. After calling you to verify the hours worked and that you are satisfied with our services, your credit card will be charged and you will receive an email receipt. Sweeps requires a valid credit card be on file before we confirm any jobs, both to protect Sweepers and to ensure timely payment. Your card will not be charged until after the job is complete and is stored in an encrypted database. We use FormStack for all of our online forms, and you can read about the security in place here.
What if I want a Sweeper to come more than once, or require multiple Sweepers?
We are able to accommodate jobs with multiple Sweepers or with a particular Sweeper, just make sure to indicate what you would prefer when posting a job.
For most ongoing jobs (you would indicate “recurring” when asked in the Post a Job form), we try to match you with one Sweeper who is willing and able to make a longer commitment.
How do I become a Sweeper?
We are constantly in need of bright, motivated students and recent graduates. The first step is to apply online.
Do Sweepers work for Sweeps?
No, Sweeps is a platform to connect job posters with Sweepers. All Sweepers are independent contractors. See Sweeps terms of use for more information.
What are your hours?
Sweepers keep all hours, but Sweeps office staff is available Monday-Friday, 9-5.
I called Sweeps and no one picked up (or the phone # did not work). Are you still in business?
Yes, our new number is 1-855-SWEEPS7, and our local number is (919) 628-0828. If we miss the call, please leave a message, and we will Sweep to it as quick as we can.
